Built around 6 institutes, Volcani's scientists form multi-disciplinary teams to tackle emerging challenges, drawing on all the relevant expertise.
Another of Volcani's key strengths lies in its multi-disciplinary nature, allowing scientists to collaborate on research and solutions. Indeed, the Volcani Center comprises 6 research institutes and 2 off-campus research stations which cover a wide range of agricultural disciplines.
The Volcani Center plays a central role in Israel’s agricultural innovation eco-system.
Established in 1921, before the State of Israel, the Volcani Center is Israel’s national agricultural R&D center. With 200 scientists, it accounts for more than 75% of the country’s agricultural research and innovation and has been the driving force behind Israel’s renowned agricultural expertise. It is a governmental organization and officially an arm of the Ministry of Agriculture.
Rishon Letzion
Volcani's central campus is also home to Israel's Ministry of Agriculture and serves as the headquarters for Israel agricultural extension services.
Neve Ya'ar - Northern Center
Situated in Israel's northern periphery, the Neve Ya'ar research center is home to Volcani's groundbreaking Model Farm for Sustainable Agriculture and focuses on health, nutrition and sustainability.
Gilat - Southern Center
Situated on the edge of the Negev desert, the Gilat campus is home to Volcani's Center for Arid and Semi-Arid Agriculture where its scientists conduct cutting edge research to enhance climate resilient agriculture.

Recipient of the Prestigious UNESCO Prize
In 2017 the Volcani Center received the prestigious Equatorial Guinea International Prize for Research in Life Sciences, awarded by UNESCO.
